Cross-Border E-Commerce Needs Assessment & Capacity Building
Enabling Service Providers to Empower Jordanian SMEs
As global trade rapidly shifts toward digital platforms, Jordanian SMEs must adopt e-commerce strategies to remain competitive in international markets. However, limited access to specialized support and digital trade expertise has hindered their growth.
To address this challenge, TASDEER, in collaboration with GOPA Worldwide Consultants and GIZ’s Trade for Employment (T4E) Project, led a cross-border e-commerce needs assessment and capacity-building initiative. The project aimed to equip key service providers with the expertise needed to help SMEs navigate digital trade, scale their businesses, and maximize their export potential.
Key Activities & Contributions
🔹 Assessing the E-Commerce Landscape & Identifying Gaps
✅ Conducted a comprehensive desk review of e-commerce platforms, tools, and services in demand.
✅ Validated existing gap analyses to refine strategies for improving SME support.
✅ Assessed the current state of business development services, identifying key areas for improvement.
🔹 Capacity Building for Service Providers
✅ Developed a tailored training program for six key service providers, covering:
- International e-commerce strategies
- Digital marketing & SEO for global sales
- Virtual marketplace integration
- Logistics & cross-border trade compliance
✅ Delivered six days of intensive training, equipping providers with the tools to offer hands-on support to SMEs.
🔹 Direct SME Support & Digital Transformation
✅ Facilitated the selection of 20 SMEs based on export potential.
✅ Provided customized training, coaching, and financial assistance to help businesses:
- Enhance their digital presence
- Optimize their marketplace listings (Amazon, Noon, Tradeling, etc.)
- Improve logistics and fulfillment processes
🔹 Industry-Wide Collaboration & Knowledge Exchange
✅ Organized the Cross-Border E-Commerce Day, featuring expert panels with logistics providers, digital marketplaces, and government stakeholders, fostering networking and collaboration.
